AI Artwork - Chrono Trigger

AI Artwork is a series where I ask an AI to generate various images about a video game or video game series and see what it comes up with.

Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite video games of all time. It was the perfect storm of great storytelling, visuals, music and gameplay. Even after seeing the credits roll for hundreds of video games, Chrono Trigger still holds up above modern and classic titles.

So, it makes total sense to prompt an AI to regurgitate images based on what it thinks I want to see! I’m really excited to see how these turn out.

NOTE: Please let me know if you want to see more of these. I can do other series/game characters, and I can also go back to previous series. There are a ton more characters to check out!

Okay, let’s get into it. The first character we have to start with is Chrono, the main hero of the series and one of the coolest looking JRPG characters ever made:

That’s pretty good! Right away, I see some obvious issues. Chrono’s sword is obviously not right at all. The color scheme for his clothes is different and there’s something weird going on with his bandana. But, if I were to show the AI generated image to anyone who knew Chrono Trigger, they would know exactly who it was. The hair really is the big indicator I think. I’m not sure what I expected, but I didn’t expect something so close to the real deal.

Rating: 9/10

Glenn/Frog

Glenn is definitely one of my favorite characters from the game. He is visually interesting but also his back story is tragic, and his theme music is wonderful.
