AI Artwork is a new series where I ask an AI to generate various images about a video game or video game series and see what it comes up with.

Let’s face it, Artificial Intelligence is the new hotness. Everyone is debating whether or not AI will take our jobs and/or take over the world. In my opinion, AI is just another technology that will be both a benefit and a hindrance to society. Just like the internet, social media, 3D movies and numerous other innovations before it, AI has pitfalls and silver linings. To that end, why shouldn’t I try to use it for something silly like rendering images of video game characters?

The first series that comes to mind is of course The Legend of Zelda. It’s the series I started with several years ago, so I don’t see any reason to stop that trend.

NOTE: I will be using ChatGPT to enter the prompts and to generate my images. Keep in mind that this AI cannot generate images containing copyright or IP content. So, I expect the results to be interesting and sometimes - or maybe mostly - silly.

Okay okay, not bad ChatGPT. I mean it really looks nothing like any incarnation of Link in any media, but nonetheless it’s pretty cool looking. It really looks like something out of a Dungeons and Dragons handbook. We have an elvish looking gentleman clad in some light chainmail armor and a green tunic. He’s wielding a shield that appears to be attached to his forearm and a glowing sword. And y’know just in case he loses his original shield, there’s a larger one right there on the ground. I also like the forest background with the fairies or fireflies floating around.
