Movie Review: Ghostbusters: Afterlife
Movie Review is a series of posts in which I review or talk about an interesting portion(s) of a film I have watched.

I am a huge Ghostbusters fan. Maybe not as huge a fan as those who live and breathe that world or those that create their own Proton Packs and dress up as Ghostbusters any chance they get. But I really love the first two movies. I think the original Ghostbusters is genuinely a great film. Ghostbusters II is a good film. It keeps the distinct feeling of Ghostbusters intact, but it does have several flaws that prevent it from being on the same level as the first.
I have played the narrative Ghostbusters video game that released in 2009. I thought it was pretty great but certain voice acting (*cough* Bill Murray *cough*) was not as good as it could have been.
I did not see Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. After finding out that it was not a continuation of the original movies and that the original cast were in the film but playing completely different characters, I had no desire to watch it.
Now, 37 years after the original movie that released in 1984, we have Ghostbusters: Afterlife. It is a continuation of the first two movies, it includes most of the original cast members and they portray their original characters, and it was directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, the director of the first two movies.
After having seen the film, I can say that I was not disappointed by it, and I think it was a fun and entertaining time at the movies. There are certain things that I can nitpick though, such as the entire catalyst for the story (you’re telling me Ray Stanz, heart of the Ghostbusters, the guy who is a true believer, would think Egon had “gone off the deep end”? No way). However, I think there are certain things that can be discussed about the film; questions that can be asked such as “Did this movie need to be made”? and “Where are they going to go from here”?
