Darksiders is a series that I tried getting into years ago with little success. Not sure if it's just the themes or the imagery or what, but something about it just didn't hook me. Glad you enjoyed it, though! Curious to read your thoughts on the sequels.
Well, spoilers for future posts, but the Darksiders series as a whole seems to take the "kitchen sink" approach. They take inspiration from various existing properties and throw it into a game. If it doesn't take, they completely change the genre of the next game. I think that potentially did more harm than good, but they have made some interesting games nonetheless.

Hmm yeah, I could definitely see the problem there. Super risky to do that, especially when you're developing an expensive game.
